LANDSCAPE DESIGN

I love art and I love the outdoors.  It was only natural for me to become a landscape architect.  I enjoyed a successful career as a landscape designer at a design firm in downtown San Francisco.  I welcome inquiries for design consultation or casual conversation about garden design.

JARDIN DE METIS COMPETITION [quebec]

Collaborating with a peer, a garden design was created for the festival theme of 'Secret Garden'. Three mounds are created where each contains a museum of glass jars filled with dirt, insects, or roots. These materials were to be submitted via an online solicitation for specimens from around the world.

LEED LANDSCAPE [ann arbor]

A native garden adjacent to a University of Michigan academic building was left untended for five years. A redesign of the space was initiated by myself and four other students through a grassroots design campaign. We successfully completed the redesign project, which includes: an outdoor classroom, bridge over bioswale, gabion benches, and brick pathway.

GREEK MUSEUM [detroit]

Planting design and construction aims to renew this historic Detroit property and incorporate SITES credits. Native plantings and stormwater catchments are integral to the design. Rows of trees provide thermal barriers, increasing the site's ecological benefits. The design is simple yet structured to create a legible public space.

DEQUINDRE CUT [detroit]

Funded by the University of Michigan's Graham Environmental Sustainability Institute to study climate change indicators in Detroit, a stormwater runoff analysis was performed to help guide future built environment design and sewer outfall management.

GATEWAY [ann arbor]

Design was produced to make an open corner that serves as a main entrance for the University proper more welcoming and legible. A collegiate arch welcomes the public, while a brick patio allows the public to pause without constraint of patronizing a vendor. A space of transition is created.

CUBE [ann arbor]

A perspective rendering for the patio redesign of Tony Rosenthal's cube on the University of Michigan's campus.

URBAN NEIGHBORHOOD

Site plan rendering of typical urban neighborhood park design.

UNDERGROUND SAND FILTER [detroit]

An underground sand filter is a three chambered system that pretreats, filters, and temporarily stores stormwater runoff. Retrofits in urban areas, such as Detroit, can improve the quality of stormwater runoff before it is dumped into the river.
